Step-by-Step Guide to Making Iced Matcha
Step 1: Measure the Matcha Powder
Using the Chashaku (bamboo scoop), measure 1-2 scoops of matcha powder (approximately 1 teaspoon) into the Chawan (matcha bowl).
Step 2: Sift the Matcha Powder
For a smooth and lump-free matcha, sift the powder through a fine sieve. This ensures a silky texture and prevents clumping when whisked.
Step 3: Heat the Water
Avoid boiling water as it can burn the matcha, resulting in a bitter taste. Let the boiling water sit for a minute before using it.
Step 4: Add Water to Matcha
Pour a small amount of hot water (about 2 ounces) into the bowl with the matcha powder. This initial small amount helps create a paste that will dissolve the matcha more effectively.
Step 5: Whisk the Matcha
Using the chasen (bamboo whisk), whisk the matcha vigorously in a zigzag motion until it becomes frothy. This should take about 20-30 seconds. The goal is to create a creamy layer of foam on the surface.
Step 6: Add Sweetener
Add your preferred sweetener to the matcha paste. Stir well to ensure it is fully dissolved and evenly mixed.
Step 7: Add More Water
Add more hot water if necessary to your desired consistency. Stir gently to combine.
Step 8: Prepare the Glass
Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. add your milk.
Step 9: Pour and Mix
Pour the sweetened matcha over the ice in the tall glass. Stir well to combine the matcha and the ice, ensuring it is chilled throughout.

Your iced matcha is now ready to be enjoyed. Sip it slowly to appreciate its flavour. Personally, matcha has become a beloved part of my daily routine, so I hope you enjoy it.
